Vicksburg man jumps from second-floor motel balcony while attempting to avoid arrest

A Vicksburg man jumped from a second-floor balcony at a local motel Tuesday afternoon while allegedly attempting to avoid arrest, according to the Vicksburg Police Department.

The incident occurred at Motel 6 as officers were serving arrest warrants on an individual, the department said during a live video posted Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police department, the suspect was wanted on warrants that included auto theft and several other offenses. During the operation, two additional suspects were also taken into custody.

The man who jumped from the second-floor balcony was seen being placed on a stretcher by first responders. Authorities have not released information about the extent of his injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing. The Vicksburg Police Department said it plans to release the names of those arrested, along with the charges they face, as the investigation continues.
