A Warren County man was arrested after authorities said deputies found methamphetamine and marijuana during a driver’s license checkpoint Monday night.

Rocky Marvin Howard Jr., 28, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint at the intersection of Jeff Davis and Hankinson roads around 9:30 p.m. when they stopped Howard’s 2002 Toyota pickup truck. Deputies reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle, leading to a search.

During the search, deputies said they recovered approximately two grams of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.

Howard appeared Tuesday before Warren County Justice Court Judge Randy Lewis, who set his bond at $2,500.
