highway 3 log dead

WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — One person has died in an 18-wheeler log truck accident on Highway 3.

At about 8:15 p.m., a fully loaded log truck was southbound on Highway 3 when it left the roadway, turned on its side in a ditch, and made contact with a drainage structure. The impact shifted the logs forward, trapping the driver in the cab under their weight.

First responders from the Warren County Fire Service, including Hunter Ivey and Josh Davies, along with Vicksburg Firefighters, Rescue, FireMedic 30, Chief Trey Martin, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, worked diligently for over an hour trying to free the trapped driver. Heavy equipment was called to the scene to lift the logs off the truck’s cab. Despite the herculean effort, the driver did not survive the accident. He had been identified as Karl Raymond Hager Jr, 55.

AirCare landed a medical helicopter on the highway and assisted with recovery efforts. Highway 3 was shut down while first responders worked the accident.

Highway 3 remains closed while the accident is investigated. Take another route.
