VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Reindeer Run event raised enough money to put the low-cost spay and neuter clinic over a critical financial goal.

“The Reindeer Run raised $19,275 for the low-cost neuter clinic that we’re trying to establish,” said group representative Diane Gargaro. The donation has brought the group’s total raised to over $50,000 in under six months. “The next step is finding someplace to have the building.”

A low-cost neuter clinic has been the goal of animal advocates in Vicksburg for decades. “We couldn’t have done it without everybody that’s in this room,” said Gargaro. “Also, you have to realize that the community also donated $50,000.”

The clinic will operate with volunteers. “We are going to be charging at very low cost to the clients, and it’s an all-volunteer staff. Nobody’s getting paid so we can have enough money to operate,” explained Gargaro.

Platinum level sponsors for the group were Tommy’s BBQ, Steele Designs, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The City of Vicksburg donated at the Gold level, and Silver level donors included Curb Appeals Real Estate, The Mulberry, Magnolia Jewelers, Bateville Casket, Topgolf, Warinig Oil Company, Harcros Chemicals, Brick Street Market, and Robyn Lea.

“We want to give a special thank you to Toney’s. Christin at Toney’s really made it happen,” said Gargaro.
