Walmarts partner with MS Blood Services to increase blood donations
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) is partnering with Walmart, Inc. throughout the month of April to help raise awareness and increase blood donations as inventory levels remain low across the nation.
Vicksburg Walmart will participate in the event Friday, April 24, from 12 noon until 4 p.m.
Ten Walmart locations across Central Mississippi will host blood drives as part of the “Roll Up Your Sleeve” campaign, encouraging community members to donate and help save lives. These drives aim to educate shoppers on the critical need for blood and the impact donations have on patients, including those battling sickle cell disease, cancer, and individuals experiencing traumatic injuries.
“Blood donations are essential for patients in need every day,” said Kasey Dickson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at MBS. “Through this partnership with Walmart, we’re able to meet donors where they already are—making it more convenient than ever to give back and help save lives in our communities.”
Walmart’s commitment to serving communities aligns with MBS’s mission to ensure a safe and steady blood supply for hospitals across Mississippi. These mobile blood drives provide a convenient opportunity for shoppers and local residents to donate while running everyday errands.
Donating blood is a simple, safe process that takes about an hour but can help save up to three lives. As a special thank-you, all donors will receive an exclusive “Rollback Your Sleeve” T-shirt while supplies last.
MBS reminds donors to eat a healthy meal, stay hydrated, and bring a valid photo ID when donating.
