County honors Rufus for years of service
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County Board of Supervisors recognized Bobby Rufus for his years of service at the regular meeting held Monday, May 4.
Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs spoke about Rufus’ service to the county.
“Mr. Rufus has been the backbone of what we currently know as Vicksburg Warren 911. Mr. Bobby Rufus has been there for 18 years. He started as a regular 911 dispatcher, didn’t know anything about the center or operations of the center,” explained Briggs. “Over his time at 911 he learned the system, built the system, tore the system down, built it again and then built another system. I pick at him and say he ‘could do it in his sleep.'” said Briggs.
Rufus is not retiring from 911. He’s furthering his career in a similar occupation elsewhere.
“I can’t fault him for that. If he were retiring, I could be mad at him, but I’m not. The 911 center will miss you greatly, but everyday we’ll get to see what you created over these last 18 years,” said Briggs to Rufus.
Warren County Board of Supervisors President Dr. Kelle Barfield also addressed Rufus commemorating his service to the community.
“Throughout your tenure, Bobby Rufus has contributed significantly to the success of the department through his leadership, technical expertise and unwavering dedication. He’s been known for professionalism, ability and commitment to public service. Mr. Rufus has played a vital role in keeping the agency operating efficiently and has consistently been someone others rely on to solve problems and provide guidance. The impact of Bobby Rufus’ will be felt for years to come, and his dedication has not gone unnoticed. On behalf of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, we extend our sincere appreciation for 18 years of outstanding public service and wish Bobby Rufus continued success in all future endeavors,” said Barfield.
