Jordan Polk: VDN’s 2025-2026 Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — When it came to finding the back of the net, Warren Central High School standout Jordan Polk made it look easy. Year after year, Polk continued to prove herself as one of the top soccer players in the area, and during her senior season she elevated her game to another level while leading the Lady Vikes deep into the playoffs.

Now, after a record-breaking year, Polk has been named the Vicksburg Daily News 2025-2026 Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year.
Polk’s final season at Warren Central was filled with milestones, victories and unforgettable moments. The Lady Vikes advanced all the way to the North State Championship game before their season came to an end, capping off another dominant year for the program.
“I’m glad that we made it as far as we did even though it ended early but I still enjoyed my whole career and it ended on a good note,” Polk said.
After scoring 28 goals as a junior, Polk returned determined to leave an even bigger mark on the program. She finished her senior campaign with 41 goals and 12 assists, leading the county in goals scored while helping Warren Central remain among the top teams in Mississippi.

One of the biggest moments of Polk’s season came when she broke the school’s single-season scoring record. Just before Christmas, she added another major accomplishment by scoring four goals against Canton to record her 100th career goal.
Polk said hard work and dedication were key factors behind her success. Throughout the season, she pushed herself to improve while also helping motivate her teammates in their pursuit of a championship.
“I had to train really hard plus the whole team worked hard because we were chasing that championship,” she added.
For the past three seasons, Polk helped lead the Lady Vikes to the North State Championship round under Head Coach Jeremy Lawrence. During that span, Warren Central also captured three straight district titles while consistently finishing as one of the top programs in the state.
After several postseason battles with Saltillo over the years, Polk’s high school career came to a close in a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime loss in the North State title game.
“It was very sad and I cried so much because I had to realize it was all ending but I now know I have to move to bigger things,” Polk said.
Although her high school career has ended, Polk’s soccer journey is far from over. After originally committing to Itawamba Community College, she later decided to continue her career at Hinds Community College where she will remain close to home while competing on the collegiate level.

As she reflected on her journey, Polk made sure to thank those who supported her along the way.
“I want to thank God first,” she said. “My parents and everyone who supported us especially our coaches and anyone who had a part in this journey.”
Polk now finishes her high school career as a two-time Vicksburg Daily News Player of the Year selection, cementing her legacy as one of the most accomplished soccer players to ever wear a Warren Central uniform.
