Alaysia Burden and Milah Davis named captains of VJHS Gatorettes
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Alaysia Burden and Milah Davis have been named captains of the Vicksburg Junior High School Gatorettes for the 2026-27 school year.
Burden, an incoming seventh grader, will serve as the team’s head captain, while Davis, an incoming eighth grader, has been selected as co-captain. The two dancers will lead the Gatorettes under the direction of head coach Eddie Howard III.
Burden said she is excited about the opportunity to help lead her teammates.

“I’m happy that I get to help my team battle other teams, plus I’m excited to be head captain,” she said.
Burden has been dancing since she was 5 years old and said becoming a member of the Gatorettes had long been one of her goals. She is the daughter of Alton Burden Jr. and Diara Henderson.
Davis also expressed excitement about stepping into a leadership role.

“I’m really excited because this is a great opportunity to have. Even though it’s hard, it’s fun at the same time,” Davis said.
Davis has been dancing since the age of 3 and has used those early years of experience to earn her place as a Gatorette. She is the daughter of Gabrielle Trevillion and Morris Davis.
As captains, Burden and Davis will help lead the Gatorettes throughout the 2026-27 school year while representing Vicksburg Junior High School both on and off the performance floor.
