VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — One person was shot after witnessing an altercation at an area gas station.

At around 4:47 p.m. Sunday, Captain Curtis Judge with the Vicksburg Police Department reports one person was shot in the neck as a result of an altercation. The person was in the area of Washington and Mattingly, at the gas station there, when a disturbance broke out.

Two other parties started getting loud with each other, the disagreement escalated, and someone produced a gun. Shots were fired, and an as-yet-unnamed person near the argument was struck in the neck.

They were taken to a hospital in the Jackson area for treatment. Their condition is not known at this time.

The individuals who were arguing had left the scene by the time the police arrived. A full investigation is underway, and the Vicksburg Daily News will update this story as more information is made available.
