Two in custody after robbery of Loomis driver in Vicksburg
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Two people are in custody after a brazen daytime robbery of a Loomis truck loading an ATM at Cadence Bank in Vicksburg.
At about 2:20 p.m., a report of an armed robbery was received by the Vicksburg Warren 911 Call Center. A Loomis driver was filling an ATM at the Cadence Bank on Indiana at South Frontage when a black male approached him with a gun. The male disarmed the Loomis driver, took his weapon, and then stole the money intended for the ATM. The male with braids and a black shirt then got into a gray Hyundai Elantra and fled to I-20 East.
Units with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department spotted the vehicle as it passed through the Bovina exit and gave chase. The vehicle did not yield to the deputies, and the chase continued into Hinds County, where the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office joined in. At the 38-mile marker, the vehicle was disabled by spike strips that deflated the tires. A short foot chase ensued, and both suspects were taken into custody.
