City Reminds Public to Follow Rules at Halls Ferry Courts

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)— The City of Vicksburg is urging residents and visitors to follow posted guidelines while using the pickleball courts at Halls Ferry Park, following ongoing concerns about misuse and lack of supervision during play.

City officials said the courts, which are open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., were built with significant investment to provide the public with a high-quality recreational facility. However, repeated reminders have been necessary due to incidents of inappropriate court use.

“These courts are for playing pickleball, not for artwork or having a picnic,” Rick Daughtry, Director of Parks and Recreation, stated. “If you have children with you, please be mindful of what they are doing at all times.”

Rules are visibly posted on every gate surrounding the facility, and residents are encouraged to review them and help maintain the space for its intended purpose. Officials continue to monitor the courts in the evenings and have asked for community cooperation in preserving the space.
