20-year-old fell into sawmill on Highway 3
WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A 20-year-old male employee reportedly fell into an operating saw at the SWS Sawmill on Highway 3 near International Paper.
According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, “At about 10:15 this morning, there was an industrial accident.” Radio traffic indicated that an employee fell into the operating saw at the sawmill just north of Redwood. Initial radio traffic also revealed the individual suffered significant injuries and was bleeding heavily. Fire Medic 30 was the first unit to arrive and reported applying life-saving procedures to the patient.
Additional units, including Warren County Fire Boss Jerry Briggs, arrived to assist with the patient. Also on scene, were Rescue and Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies. The 20-year-old was then transported directly via ambulance to UMMC in Jackson.
At the time of this report, the patient is in stable condition.
