Morgan Nelson elected as M1 Officer at UMMC

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg’s own Morgan Nelson was recently elected as an M1 Officer at University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Four Mississippi State University alumni were elected executive officers of the first-year class in the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi. Known as the M1 class, the group’s executive officers graduating from MSU include, from left, Morgan Nelson, community service chair, biological sciences 2025, Vicksburg; August Jones, president, biochemistry 2026, Bay Springs; Sneha Cherukuri, vice president, biological sciences 2025, Madison; and Dr. Casey Boothe, curriculum committee representative, biological sciences 2018, Madison.
All are exemplary academic students, Nelson also was crowned the 2024 Miss MSU pageant winner, while Jones and Cherukuri were elected in 2025 as the homecoming court’s Mr. and Miss MSU.
Nelson placed second in the 2026 Miss Mississippi Pageant held this summer in Vicksburg.
