Clinton rolls past Warren Central 45-13 in season opener

CLINTON, Miss. (VDN) — Clinton wasted no time showing off its offensive firepower Friday night, as running back Braylen Lowery led the Arrows to a 45-13 victory over Warren Central in both teams’ season opener.
Lowery was nearly unstoppable, scoring three first-half touchdowns to put Clinton firmly in control. He opened the game with a 2-yard touchdown run at the 8:52 mark of the first quarter, then punched in another score from 1 yard out with 1:29 left in the period to make it 14-0.
The senior back added a 30-yard touchdown early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 21-0, and Clinton quarterback Cayden Albert followed with a 2-yard keeper that stretched the advantage to 28-0.
Warren Central finally broke through before halftime when Javid Scott powered in from 1 yard out. The extra point was no good, leaving the score at 28-6. The Vikings struck again in the third quarter when Nash Morgan found Layton Lee for a 14-yard touchdown pass to cut it to 28-13.
Clinton quickly answered. Jaylon Jones connected with Jaden Johnson for a 14-yard touchdown pass that pushed the margin back to 35-13. Albert later tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, and Lowery capped his standout night with a 34-yard field goal to seal the 45-13 win.
Warren Central (0-1) will travel to Pearl next Friday.
