Drug Take-Back Day set for April 26 at VPD

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) will host a Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, offering the public a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or expired medications.
The event, sponsored in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will take place at the police department. Accepted items include prescription medications, narcotics, over-the-counter drugs, and vitamins.
Items that will NOT be accepted include syringes, inhalers, liquid medications, ointments, and lotions.
“Medications left in medicine cabinets or tossed in the trash can lead to accidental ingestion, drug misuse, or become a target for theft,” said Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones. “By properly disposing of them, you are protecting your family, your community, and our environment. This event is part of our ongoing effort to promote health, safety, and trust in our city. We care deeply about our citizens and are committed to keeping Vicksburg safe one household at a time.”
In addition to the event, the Vicksburg Police Department maintains a permanent drop box in its lobby, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The event is free and anonymous. For more information, contact the department at 601-636-2511.
