WVBG heading to Green Bay for live NFL draft coverage

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — WVBG Radio is once again hitting the road to bring live coverage of the NFL Draft, this time from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Mandy Harris, a passionate sports broadcaster and longtime supporter of local athletics, will lead the coverage for the third consecutive year. Harris, joined this year by her uncle and fellow WVBG employee Marty May, will provide live updates from the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 24.
“You can take everything from me, but you will never be able to take my love for sports away,” Harris said.
Listeners can tune in to V105.5, Newstalk 107.7, or stream the broadcast on vicksburgradio.com and the Vicksburg Radio app.
Harris, a familiar face on the sidelines at Warren Central High School football games, is known for setting up broadcast equipment, taking photos and conducting halftime interviews. Her passion for the sport led her to earn a degree in sports analytics from the University of Michigan in 2023.
“I’ve always loved football and done fantasy football with the NFL,” she said. “When I got credentials to start taking pictures on the sideline at Ole Miss, I wanted to continue into the NFL—not taking pictures but telling people what was going on as a broadcaster.”
Despite her love for sports, Harris works full time at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson as the Marketing, Communication, and CLE Coordinator and IT Assistant. Her dream of working in NFL broadcasting was reinforced after writing a story about Cody Allison, a Mississippi College Law graduate who worked on the sidelines for the Tennessee Titans.
“He told me that his law degree helped him tremendously as a sideline broadcaster because you’ve always got to be aware of your surroundings and expect the unexpected, just like in the courtroom,” Harris said.
She said her goal isn’t to become the next Holly Rowe or Erin Andrews, but to continue chasing her dream.
“You are never too old to chase any dream,” Harris said.
This year, Harris said she is excited to have May by her side. “I think it will be great to have another person live with me on the radio to discuss what’s going on around us at the draft,” she said. “The past two years, I’ve gone by myself and just had conversations with Mark Jones, the owner of WVBG, back at the studio.”
Beyond the live coverage, Harris and May plan to enjoy the NFL Draft Experience, which includes access to press conferences, autographs from current and former NFL players, Super Bowl memorabilia and interactive fan events.
“In Kansas City, I sat in line for approximately 30 minutes to get the chance to try and kick a 35-yard field goal,” Harris said. “To my surprise, I actually made it! I gave the credit to all my soccer days at WC with Coach Lucy Young.”
Harris said she is keeping an eye on several former Ole Miss players, including Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris and Jared Ivey, in hopes they’ll hear their names called during the draft.
WVBG is a proud affiliate of both Mississippi State and Ole Miss, and Harris said the station is grateful for continued community support. This year’s NFL Draft coverage is sponsored by Waterview Casino, Patriot Motorsports and Wells & LaHatte.
