Remembering Raleigh Zachry Smith
Raleigh Zachry “Zack” Smith, 73, passed away peacefully the afternoon of September 7, 2026 surrounded by his sister, Stephanie, and devoted staff of Vicksburg Convalescent Center.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) Raleigh Zachry “Zack” Smith, 73, passed away peacefully the afternoon of September 7, 2026 surrounded by his sister, Stephanie, and devoted staff of Vicksburg Convalescent Center.
Smith was born in Greenville, Miss., and spent his life as a machinist and a salesman. He was known above all for his love for Jesus, his love for his family, his love for his friends, his love for hunting. His family, friends, and caregivers will forever remember his wonderful sense of humor
He is preceded in death by his parents; Raleigh Martin Smith and Pauline “Polly” Zachry Smith of Greenville, MS.
His survivors include his sisters; Patricia “Trisha” Louise Smith (Hot Springs, Ark.), and Stephanie Smith Crudup (Vicksburg, Miss.) , and his nephew, Nathan Thomas Crudup (Vicksburg, Miss.), and many cousins..
A special thank you to the staff of Vicksburg Convalescent Center and St. Joseph Hospice for their devoted care of him. His family is forever grateful to them.
There will not be a funeral service at this time but a celebration of life will be arranged sometime in early 2027.
