A Vicksburg man received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to simple possession in Warren County Circuit Court. Judge Terrett granted him a second chance, allowing him to avoid prison time following a drug-related arrest.

Vicksburg Man Receives Second Chance
Judge Toni Terrett granted a Vicksburg man a related coverage Wednesday morning, handing down a suspended sentence in Warren County Circuit Court after he pleaded guilty to a drug charge.
Robert Ward, 25, received a six-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to simple possession, a lesser charge stemming from a 2025 arrest.
Ward was the driver of a vehicle that authorities said contained a felony amount of marijuana. Members of the Vicksburg Police Department discovered marijuana throughout the vehicle, leading to Ward and a co-defendant being arrested on trafficking charges.
Judge’s Decision on Drug Case
Ward appeared before Terrett on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to the reduced charge. Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland did not object to Ward receiving a second chance rather than serving prison time.
Ward was represented by defense attorney Noah Drake.
During the hearing, a letter Ward wrote to the court was read aloud. In the letter, Ward apologized for his actions and said he would make better choices if given another opportunity.
Ward had faced between six and 24 years in prison. Terrett ultimately chose to suspend the six-year sentence, allowing Ward to avoid prison and giving him an opportunity to move forward.
