Vicksburg native Kameren Batty is preparing for one of the biggest moments of his musical career as he will conduct the world premiere of a new musical work at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Batty, a 2020 graduate of Vicksburg High School, has received the prestigious honor of serving as a guest conductor for MidAmerica Productions’ 45th International Concert Series. At just 24 years old, Batty is making a name for himself in the music industry while hoping to inspire young musicians from his hometown.

On March 11, 2028, Batty will take the stage at Carnegie Hall to lead a concert of his own. He will collaborate with composer and educator Dr. Jesse Noote of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to create a new major musical work titled “God Is Love,” which will make its world premiere during the performance.

The opportunity is a major accomplishment for Batty, who has dedicated much of his life to music, theater and education.

MidAmerica Productions is a renowned music production company that specializes in organizing concerts in New York City and around the world. The organization has worked with several world-renowned conductors, including John Rutter.

While Batty is preparing for a major milestone in his career, he also wants to make sure students from Vicksburg have an opportunity to experience something special.

As part of his mission to provide opportunities and inspire others, Batty is extending an invitation to school choirs in Vicksburg and surrounding areas to participate in the Carnegie Hall performance.

The invitation is open to choirs with students in seventh through 12th grades, giving young singers an opportunity to travel to New York City and perform on one of the world’s most recognized concert stages.

Choir directors interested in providing the opportunity for their students are encouraged to contact Batty at kbatty@ecseagles.com or visit his website at www.kambatty.com.

Batty is the son of Kensell and Lakesha Batty, who are both educators in the Vicksburg Warren School District.

His passion for music and leadership began long before his professional career.

During his time at Vicksburg High School, Batty served as student body president and drum major for the VHS Pride Band. He was also actively involved in the school’s choral and theatrical productions, developing the skills that would eventually help him pursue a career in the performing arts.

Since beginning his teaching career in 2023, Batty has established himself as a multifaceted teaching artist with experience in several disciplines.

Along with directing choral music, he serves as a musical theater director and is an award-winning choreographer.

Throughout his career, Batty has directed or served as music director for seven theatrical productions, conducted numerous choral concerts and created choreography for musical theater productions and a cappella competition performances.

Now, with an opportunity to conduct at Carnegie Hall, Batty hopes his journey will serve as an example to students throughout Vicksburg that their dreams can become reality through dedication, consistency and hard work.

For Batty, the upcoming performance is more than an opportunity to showcase his musical talents. It is also a chance to encourage the next generation of young musicians to believe in themselves and pursue opportunities beyond their hometown.

“Never stop dreaming. Make your dream a reality by vigorously working your passions,” Batty said. “Always remain consistent in what you want and hold yourself to the standard you want to achieve. Trust that God is good and that he will provide the rest.”
