Claiborne County deputy killed in line of duty
A Claiborne County Sheriff’s deputy, Terrian Bailey, was killed in the line of duty after responding to a disturbance on Highway 18. The incident involved gunfire, and the investigation is ongoing with multiple agencies involved.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
A Claiborne County Sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed in the line of duty Monday morning.
According to multiple sources, just after midnight the deputy responded with other units to a large gathering that turned into a disturbance on Highway 18 near Hermanville road. Soon after arriving shots rang out and the deputy was hit. The other deputies immediately responded to him and transported him to an area hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
There are as yet unconfirmed reports a female civilian was also struck in the gunfire.
At the time of this report, the shooter was still at large.
Claiborne County Coroner Kieon Neal identified the deputy as 45-year-old Terrian Bailey and that Bailey’s family has been notified.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are on the scene, along with the Sheriff’s of Adams, Jefferson, and Warren Counties. Numerous deputies from those departments were at the scene as well.
The MBI has taken over the investigation.
