VICKSBURG, MISS. (VDN) — Martha Allen Price, executive director of Extra Table, has been recognized as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 leaders in the Culture & Community category. The annual award honors individuals making a significant contribution in business, media, politics, and community service across the state.

“This award reflects the work of Extra Table has done over the past 15 years to fight hunger across Mississippi,” Price said. “Every plate tells a story, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue advocating for food security in our state.”

Since 2020, Extra Table has provided healthy food, free of charge, each month to Vicksburg’s Storehouse Food Pantry, which supports local families with nutritious meals.

Under Price’s leadership, the organization has grown by 174% in the past five years. Through this success, Extra Full red beans and rice meal kit packing program was launched. Last September, The Vicksburg Young Professionals and approximately 100 volunteers, packed 10,000 meals for our community in under two hours with Extra Full. This provided meal kits to local non-profits and food pantries that are tackling food insecurity.
