Funeral Arrangements set for Roderick “Rod” Burden

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)— The Vicksburg Warren School District is mourning the loss of School Safety Officer Roderick “Rod” Burden, who died recently, district officials announced.

Burden served the district’s campuses as a school safety officer, where he was known for his dedication, integrity and genuine care for students and staff. District leaders said his presence and commitment to maintaining a safe environment will be deeply missed.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who worked alongside him during this difficult time,” the district said in a statement.

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Burden. A Homegoing Celebration for Roderick Ray Burden Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at the Vicksburg Convention Center, located at 1600 Mulberry St. A repast will follow at Good Times Event Center, 3215 Wisconsin Ave.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at C.J. Williams Mortuary Services, 1625 Monroe St. Viewing for friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by family viewing from 3 to 6 p.m.

The family has requested that attendees wear San Francisco 49ers colors — red, black and gold — in honor of Burden.
