Vicksburg native Dwike Wilson joins LSU Football Staff as Senior Director of Recruiting
BATON ROUGE, La. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Dwike Wilson has joined the football staff at Louisiana State University, where he will serve as senior director of recruiting.
Wilson comes to LSU after working in the same role at the University of Mississippi, where he served on the staff under head coach Lane Kiffin.
Before his time at Ole Miss, Wilson most recently worked as the cornerbacks coach at Old Dominion University. Prior to that, he spent two seasons at Southern Miss, helping guide a secondary that recorded nine interceptions in his first year. Despite multiple injuries that forced two wide receivers to transition to defensive back, Wilson’s unit remained competitive throughout the season.
Wilson previously spent two years at South Alabama, where he helped the Jaguars achieve historic success. In 2022, South Alabama won 10 games and advanced to the New Orleans Bowl, setting school records for total wins and conference victories. That season, the Jaguars ranked No. 25 nationally in total defense, allowing 331.5 yards per game, and No. 30 in interceptions with 13. Wilson coached All-Sun Belt cornerback Darrell Luter Jr., who finished the season with 42 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception.
In 2021, Wilson helped South Alabama match school records with 15 interceptions and 25 takeaways while also posting the second-most sacks in program history. Luter again stood out, ranking among the national leaders in passes defended.
Wilson also served two years at Indiana as director of player personnel and high school relations, helping the Hoosiers compile a 14-7 record, including a 6-2 Big Ten finish and a No. 12 ranking in the Associated Press poll in 2020.
His coaching résumé includes stops at Jones College, Hinds Community College, North Carolina A&T, Murray State and Itawamba Community College. A former quarterback at Hinds CC, Wilson helped lead the Eagles to a state championship in 1997. He later served as a student assistant at Ole Miss, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
