VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN— A suspect has ended up needing medical attention following a police chase down I-20 resulting in vehicle rolling over at least four times.

At around 3 p.m., a white Chevy Silverado failed to yield to lights and sirens from the Vicksburg Police Department on I-20 eastbound. While attempting to flee law enforcement, the suspect lost control and barrel-rolled at least four times according to accounts. The vehicle ended up on the right-hand side of the road at the tree line.

According to law enforcement, Warren County Sheriff Office Investigator Dusty Keyes received a positive hit on the license plate for a missing person. There were no WCSO units in the area so Keyes contacted Blake Scallions with the Vicksburg Police Department who was in the area. Scallions gave pursuit, and on I-20 east at the entrance to the scales, the suspect’s vehicle crashed.

Initial radio traffic from the crash indicated the person was entrapped in the vehicle, and law enforcement officials requested Air Care on stand-by; however, they were able to get the individual out of the vehicle. After being freed from the wreckage, he walked under his own power to the ambulance where he was transported to an area hospital.
