VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg’s St. Aloysius High School in among the winners in week one of T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G lights program.
According to a release, six Mississippi high schools have each won $5,000 through T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program — funding they can use for needs such as new helmets, weight room equipment, uniforms or travel costs. Now, each school is also in the running for a $1 million field upgrade.
Mississippi continues to show strong momentum in the program: in addition to this week’s winners, 16 other high schools across the state have received a combined $80,000 through Friday Night 5G Lights since the program launched in 2024, helping local football programs in communities of all sizes invest in their teams, facilities and Friday night traditions.
Other winners from week one include Yazoo County High School, Jefferson County High School, Natchez High School, Greene County High School and Riverside High School.
Now in its third season, Friday Night 5G Lights supports smaller communities where high school football is often the center of Friday night life. Mississippi’s Week 1 winners include schools from the Delta, southwest Mississippi, the Pine Belt and river communities — giving local programs an early boost while adding to a statewide track record of schools already benefiting from the program.
This year, the program will award more than $8.4 million in total prizes. In addition to the $5,000 each of these schools now has a chance to compete for additional prizes including, 40 regional finalists that will win $25,000 each, four Division Champions that will win $250,000 each, and one school which will receive the $1 million field upgrade.
Public voting runs October 8–25 at FridayNight5GLights.com, where anyone in the country can vote once per day. Applications remain open through September 18 at FridayNight5GLights.com. Any high school in a town of fewer than 150,000 people can apply, and every applicant is automatically entered into the weekly $5K Fridays giveaway.
