Gibbs retires after more than 20 years of service
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County Board of Supervisors celebrated the official retirement of Officer Edmond Gibbs, Monday, Feb. 2 at the regular meeting held at the Warren County Courthouse.
BOS President Kellie Barfield recognized Gibbs years of service and said she had always respected the work he did in the county.
“I’ve always thought of you as a gentle giant,” said Barfield. “You were always the go-between in the middle of law enforcement and the people of Warren County. You earned their respect.”
Gibbs was humble about his retirement. He said he was taught that work ethic was a reflection of who a person was, and he wanted to show that throughout his career.
According to reports, Gibbs began his career with the county in July 2005 as a sheriff’s deputy. He later transferred to the county barn before moving into the Emergency Management Agency, where he rose to the role of code enforcement officer.
Throughout his two decades of service, Gibbs was praised for his professionalism, work ethic, and commitment to public service.
The county had formally honored Gibbs with a presentation in July of 2025 earning his 20 years of service.
Gibbs said he would consider coming back and working for the county as a part-time employee.
