Lady Vikes clinch district championship after win over Greenville
GREENVILLE, Miss.(VDN) — The Warren Central High School girls’ soccer team captured the district championship with an 8-1 victory over Greenville on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Lady Vikes improved to 12-5 overall and 9-1 in district play under head coach Jeremy Lawrence.
Warren Central built a commanding lead in the first half behind four goals. Jordan Polk opened the scoring on an assist from Addi Mullen, and the duo quickly connected again when Mullen scored the second goal off an assist from Polk. Polk added an unassisted goal for her second of the half before Laney Bull found the net with help from Cora Lindsay to make it 4-0 at the break.
The Lady Vikes continued to control play in the second half. Polk completed her hat trick with her third goal of the match, assisted by Mullen. Kennedy Smith added a goal with an assist from Avery Hern, and Allie Mason closed out the scoring with two second-half goals.
Jordan Polk led Warren Central with three goals, while Addi Mullen finished with one goal and two assists. Allie Mason scored twice, Laney Bull and Kennedy Smith each added a goal, and assists were also recorded by Cora Lindsay and Avery Hern.
