Man arrested for possession of a machine gun
WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A Warren County man was arrested for six counts of possession of a machine gun conversion device.
According to Sheriff Martin Pace, the U.S. Postal Service Inspectors contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office regarding their investigation into the tracking of machine gun devices they believed were headed to Vicksburg. On Thursday, October 30, two search warrants were served: one at an apartment on Blossom Lane and one on Manship Circle, near Belva Drive.
The warrants were served by U.S. Postal Inspectors, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and agents from Homeland Security Investigations. They recovered one Glock handgun that had a conversion device installed, thus converting that handgun into a fully automatic machine gun. Additionally, they recovered five more devices and other weapons, including multiple firearm parts that are still being inspected for illegal components.
The suspect had an initial appearance before Judge James Jefferson on October 30, and bail was set at $300,000, with the case returnable to the next term of the grand jury. Arrested was Peyton Ne-shaun Jones, 20, of Blossom Lane.
“I will not comment on any additional arrests or charges due to this being an ongoing investigation,” said Sheriff Pace. However, the Sheriff did say, “The machine gun conversion devices or the ‘Glock switch’ as they are referred to convert a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic machine gun. These are incredibly dangerous, and we are happy to get these devices off the streets of Vicksburg.”
The Sheriff went on to applaud the U.S. Postal Service Inspectors for their efforts to bring this individual to justice.
