Shooting at Alcorn State’s Homecoming
LORMAN, Miss. (VDN) — There has been a shooting near Alcorn State University during their homecoming weekend celebration.
According to local sources, several shots rang out at about 6:30 p.m. in the area. “There was so many shots, I lost count,” said the witness who has requested their name be withheld. The eyewitness reports that at least two people have been shot and one of them is believed to have received serious life-threatening wounds in the incident. An other victim was seen on a stretcher receiving care from paramedics.
The shooting took place near the Jack’s Grocery Store on the campus.
At one point, one of the injured was covered with a white sheet. Paramedics were later observed working on that individual who was then put in an ambulance and transported from the scene. Police were searching the area and appeared to be looking for shell casings from the shooting.
Alcorn State Alumni were seen standing in a prayer circle near the incident praying for the injured parties.

This shooting follows three separate shooting incidents last night at high school homecoming events in the state.
UPDATE – 8:30 p.m. – Claiborne County Sheriff Goods has confirmed a young woman died in the shooting. There is no update on the condition of the other two victims.
– 8:00 p.m. – A helicopter medical unit was seen at the Claiborne County Medical Center on McComb Avenue in Port Gibson.
