Mayor Thompson updates conditions

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — City of Vicksburg Mayor Willis Thompson sent an update on the icy conditions Sunday, Jan. 25.

“We’re seeing significant ice accumulation on streets throughout Vicksburg as weather conditions continue to deteriorate and temperatures drop. For everyone’s safety, I strongly encourage residents to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. Limiting traffic allows our first responders and public works crews the space they need to respond to emergencies and address hazardous conditions as quickly and safely as possible. City crews are continuing to work around the clock to ensure essential city services are provided. Protecting and saving lives remains our top priority. Stay safe, Vicksburg,” said Thompson.
