VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Vicksburg High School girls’ soccer team posted a 5-0 shutout against Canton on Tuesday night under head coach Maurice Gilliam, while the boys’ team dropped a 3-1 decision despite a heavy offensive effort.

Tamiyah Davis led the Lady Gators with two goals. Amari Johnson and Leah O’Bryant each added a goal, and eighth grader Bailey Barton scored the first varsity goal of her career to complete the scoring in the shutout win.

In the boys’ match, Vicksburg generated 24 shots on goal but was unable to convert consistently. Allan Allen accounted for the Gators’ lone goal, bending a corner kick directly into the net. Canton capitalized on its opportunities to secure the 3-1 victory.
