One shot on Common Circle

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — One person has been shot at the Park at Milestone Apartments on Common Circle, just off of Grange Hall.

At about 4:15 p.m., an altercation escalated into a shooting at an address on Common Circle. According to Vicksburg Police Captain Curtis Judge, “So far, it looks like it was isolated. Just those people that were here are involved. It doesn’t seem something where someone was coming to find somebody.”

The male victim has been seriously wounded and was transported via helicopter to a Jackson area hospital. The helicopter met Fire Medic 20 at the Vicksburg Regional Airport on 61 South. The Vicksburg Daily News will update the condition of the victim once that information is made available.

“Right now, were looking into the shooting, we’re talking to people, we’ve got witnesses on scene, witnesses we’re talking to, so we’re just trying to figure out what happened and how it started,” explained Captain Judge. The Vicksburg Police Department is processing the crime scene and will release more information when it is appropriate.

“We’re talking to several people related to the shooting. I can say this is an apartment complex and people are around.” Captain Judge also confirmed that cameras are monitoring the property and they were working on getting that evidence as well.
