Remembering Margaret Foy Marcuson
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Margaret Foy Marcuson, a longtime resident of Vicksburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. She was 82.
Marcuson was born on February 22, 1943, at Fitkin Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Mildred Honce and Vincent Foy. She grew up in Freehold, New Jersey, where she attended St. Rose of Lima School and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima parish. A 1961 graduate of Freehold Regional High School, she participated in many activities, including the cheerleading squad. She formed lifelong friendships during her high school years, remaining close with several classmates through frequent phone calls and summer reunions in Freehold.
After high school, Marcuson attended the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey. Throughout her high school and college years, she spent many after-school hours and vacations babysitting and working at Federici’s Italian Restaurant in Freehold. Following her graduation from college in 1965, she returned home to Freehold and taught third grade at St. Rose of Lima School until 1968
In 1968 Marcus married William F. Marcuson, III. After a brief time living in Raleigh, North Carolina, the couple moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1969. She made Vicksburg her home for the next fifty years, until 2019, when she moved to St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Mississippi.
A devoted wife and mother, Marcuson was also a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Vicksburg for nearly five decades. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and generously volunteered her time teaching Sunday school to the children of St. Paul’s parish. Marcuson cherished spending several weeks each summer visiting her mother, siblings, extended family, and friends in Freehold and the surrounding areas, and she always looked forward to enjoying a pizza from Federici’s during those visits.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Marcuson, III, of Vicksburg; son, Eric J. Marcuson (Lauren), of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania; sister Mary E. Foy (Laura Mumford) of Timonium, Maryland; and brothers Peter C. Foy (Julie), of Freehold, New Jersey, and Frederick F. Foy (Gilda) of Arlington Heights, Illinois. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated team at St. Catherine’s Village for six and a half years of compassionate and attentive care, and to Margaret’s dear friend, Madeline Caliguiro, for the loving care and companionship she provided.
