Seven inmates remain at large after Orleans Parish jail escape
NEW ORLEANS (VDN) — Louisiana State Police and multiple law enforcement partners are continuing their search for seven inmates who remain at large following an escape from the Orleans Parish Jail on Friday.
Ten inmates escaped early Friday morning, prompting an intensive manhunt involving local, state, and federal agencies. Troopers quickly apprehended the first escapee, and two more were taken into custody later in the day. All three have since been transported to a secure state correctional facility outside the area.
During transport, one of the inmates became hostile, and troopers used a spit hood to ensure safety.
The search remains active as multiple agencies, including LSP Air Support and SWAT teams, work around the clock to locate the remaining individuals.
Authorities say tips from the public, including those submitted to Crime Stoppers of Greater New Orleans and the FBI’s New Orleans Field Office, have been critical in the effort. Citizens are encouraged to report any information—no matter how minor it may seem.
