St. Aloysius clinches playoff spot with win over Central Hinds

RAYMOND, Miss.(VDN) — The St. Aloysius boys’ soccer team secured a playoff berth Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory over Central Hinds.

The win improved the Flashes’ overall record to 10-8 and moved them to 7-1 in district play under head coach Gio Bladizon. It also marked St. Aloysius’ fourth consecutive victory.

St. Aloysius took control early, scoring twice within the first 10 minutes. Carter Smithhart opened the scoring off an assist from Jack Dickerson. Smithhart later assisted on a goal by Mason Bourne to give the Flashes a 2-0 lead.

Central Hinds scored late in the match, but St. Aloysius held on down the stretch. Goalkeeper Holden Davidson finished with four saves to help preserve the win.
