VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Shaun Archer Jr., a Vicksburg High School football standout, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Alcorn State University. Archer announced his decision earlier this week in a post shared on social media.

Archer, a 6-foot-4, 340-pound offensive lineman, has been a dominant presence up front for the Gators throughout his varsity career. Known for his size, strength and aggressive style of play, he anchored the offensive line and provided key protection during his senior season.

This year, Archer played offensive tackle as Vicksburg High School advanced to the first round of the MHSAA playoffs under head coach Christopher Lacey. His performance helped fuel the Gators’ offense and contributed to the team’s postseason appearance.

Vicksburg Daily News plans to catch up with Archer on his initial signing day to discuss his journey, his decision to attend Alcorn State, and his goals at the next level.
