Warren Central girls win North State swim championship; boys finish second

Warren Central High School’s girls swim team won the North State championship with 120 points, while the boys team finished second with 96 points. Both teams will compete at the state championship meet on October 17.

Warren Central High School’s girls swim team captured the North State championship at Delta State University, while the Vikings finished as runners-up in the boys competition.

The Lady Vikes finished with 120 points to claim the North State title. Warren Central’s boys totaled 96 points to finish second.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the state championship meet on Oct. 17. Warren Central is led by head coach Terry Wong, who guided the program to a state championship last season.

Several Warren Central swimmers earned first-, second- and third-place finishes at North State, while the Lady Vikes also picked up victories in multiple relay events.

Girls

  • Addison Billings: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay (2:07.50); first place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.33); second place in the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Avery Greer: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay; first place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.61); first place in the 400-yard freestyle (4:27.57); second place in the 100-yard freestyle.
  • Ella Opperman: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay; second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:58.81); third place in the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Aubrey Rankin: First place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:27.57); second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay.
  • Lilianna Satcher: First place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
  • Laccy Seale: Second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay.
  • Sicily Smith: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay; first place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:34.79); first place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
  • Sutter Wong: Third place in the 200-yard individual medley.

Boys

Warren Central’s boys also had a strong showing, led by individual wins from Ace Orosco and multiple top relay finishes.

  • Ellis Campbell: Second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48.17); second place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:02.14).
  • Ace Orosco: First place in the 100-yard freestyle (53.47); second place in the 50-yard freestyle (23.91); second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay; second place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
  • Mason Poole: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay (1:53.85).
  • Aron Primeaux: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay; second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay.
  • Arlo Walshire: Second place as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay; second place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
  • Cormack Wiedenfeld: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay; second place as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:02.14); third place in the 100-yard freestyle.
  • Chicobea Wilson: First place as part of the 200-yard medley relay.
