VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Mississippi Blood Services has announced its annual Halloween Blood Drive for the week of Oct. 26 through Oct. 31, at its Flowood and Oxford donor centers and participating mobile blood drives statewide.
There is currently a critical need for A, B and O blood types. Due to the shortage, MBS needs at least 250 blood donations daily to meet hospital demand. During the six-day blood drive, Mississippi patients are counting on donors to help MBS collect 1,500 donations.
Donors will receive a glow-in-the-dark “Every Pint Has Magic” Halloween t-shirt designed by Mississippi’s own award-winning editorial cartoonist Marshall Ramsey. Donors will also receive a Breast Cancer Awareness car magnet. Shirts and magnets are available while supplies last.
In addition to the t-shirt and magnets, platelet donors will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
The Flowood Donor Center, 115 Tree Street, will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 31, the center will operate from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The Oxford Donor Center, 2627 West Oxford Loop, Suite C, will be closed Monday. The facility will be open 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Schedule an appointment or find a donation location through the Donor Portal at msblood.com, or call 601-368-2673. Walk-ins are welcome.
