Warren Central High School is officially heading to the playoffs after securing a 34-14 win over Neshoba Central on Friday night. The Vikings improved to 8-0 on the year as they continued their undefeated season with another impressive performance.

The Vikings had multiple players step up throughout the night, including quarterback Nash Morgan, who accounted for three touchdowns, while Nick Lee had a perfect night in the kicking game.

Warren Central got things started early when TK Wright recovered a fumble in the first quarter. The Vikings took advantage of the opportunity as Javid Scott broke loose for a 33-yard touchdown run to put WC ahead 7-0.

Defensively, Paxton Lynch and Jonas Green came up with a tackle in the backfield to help slow down Neshoba Central’s offense.

The Rockets eventually responded with a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown, tying the game at 7-7 with 2:44 remaining in the first quarter.

Morgan continued to move the ball for the Vikings with his ability to scramble out of the pocket. WC also used a hook-and-lateral play involving XJ in the opening quarter.

The Vikings regained the lead in the second quarter when Morgan rushed for a 4-yard touchdown to put WC ahead 14-7.

Warren Central’s defense continued to make plays as Neshoba Central lost another fumble. The Vikings eventually added three more points when Lee nailed a 26-yard field goal with four minutes remaining in the first half, extending the lead to 17-7.

Neshoba Central came out of halftime looking to make a comeback. The Rockets scored on an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, cutting Warren Central’s lead to 17-14.

With the game back within three points, the Vikings needed a big play to regain momentum.

Morgan answered the call.

Late in the third quarter, Morgan connected with Layton Lee on an 8-yard touchdown pass to give Warren Central some breathing room. Nick Lee added the extra point to extend the lead to 24-14 with just 17 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Vikings continued to handle business in the fourth quarter as Micah Moore came up with a big tackle in the backfield.

Nick Lee later connected on a 22-yard field goal to extend WC’s lead. Morgan then put the finishing touches on the victory with another 4-yard touchdown run, bringing the final score to 34-14.

Nick Lee finished the night going 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts and 2-for-2 on field goals, making him a key contributor in the Vikings’ victory.

WC will host Callaway on Friday.
