VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The St. Aloysius football team started its season with a shutout win, defeating Discovery Christian 43-0 on Friday. The Flashes scored all of their touchdowns in the first half to open the year with a 1-0 record.

Quarterback Sadler Lambiotte led the way, keeping control of the offense throughout the game.

“This was exciting even though we need to clean up some stuff,” Lambiotte said. “We’ve put in the work, and now we got to witness the results.”

The Flashes struck quickly in the first quarter, building a 29-0 lead. Lambiotte connected with Beau Brogdon on a 37-yard pass before Lee broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown. Carter Smithhart added the extra point.

On the following possession, St. Al’s defense made its mark with a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown. Smithhart’s kick pushed the lead to 14-0.

Moments later, Keller Bradley forced a fumble on the kickoff and Garrod Bunch recovered. Lee scored on a 5-yard run, and Cole Nolan added a two-point conversion to make it 22-0.

After a hard sideline hit by Holden Davidson, the Flashes regained possession. Lambiotte completed an 18-yard pass to Pierson Smith, setting up a 17-yard run by Bradley. Brogdon recorded several tackles in the first quarter, and Ace Oglesby added a sack.

Defensively, Cam Myer picked up multiple tackles, while Smith delivered several hard hits.

The second half moved quickly under the running clock. Brogdon and Bunch broke out for long runs, but the Flashes held steady with their 43-0 lead.

The win was the first for new head coach Bumper Brogdon.

“You always feel good about a win, and I’m super excited for the boys,” Brogdon said. “It’s a good way to start the season, and hopefully we can build on it and get ready for next week.”
