State Auditor’s Office Arrest Probation Officer on Seven Counts of Embezzlement

JACKSON, Miss. – State Auditor Shad White announced today that Special Agents have arrested Lacosta Lee, a contracted probation officer for Court Programs, Inc. (CPI), on seven counts of embezzlement.

Lee is accused of embezzling court-ordered fines and fees for personal use. She was served with a $7,558.50 demand letter during her arrest.

If convicted on the seven counts of embezzlement, Lee faces up to $5,000 in fines and 20 years per count. All arrested individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

“The dedicated team at the State Auditor’s Office continues to work closely with prosecutors to achieve record results, one case at a time,” said State Auditor Shad White.
