Still time to register for YMCA flag football and cheer

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — It’s not too late to register your child for the 2026 YMCA Flag Football or Cheerleading season.

Registration will end Tuesday, Sept. 1. The season will begin Monday, Sept. 21 and continue through Thursday, Nov. 5. There will be no games during the fall break week of Oct. 5 through Oct. 9.

All games will be held at Key City Park located at 255 Fisher Ferry Road in Vicksburg. Games will be Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

For flag football the age groups are 5 & 6 year olds, 7-9 year olds, and 10-12 year olds. All age groups must have turned the associated age prior to Aug. 1, 2026.

Players will be placed on teams according to the school they attend.

Dues are $65 for YMCA members and $85 for non-members. Scholarships are available.

For cheerleaders, the ages are from 7 through twelve years old. The cost is $65 for YMCA members and $85 for non-members.

The YMCA Cheer Program offers young girls the experience to cheer for their team and represent their school. They will attend a cheer camp at the beginning of the season and culminate the year with the “Cheer Challenge.”

All players who are first year players in a YMCA Sports Program must present a birth certificate when they register.
