Three of seven held without bond in Tuesday’s Hermanville shooting incidents
HERMANVILLE, Miss. (VDN) — Three suspects arrested in connection with a series of shootings Tuesday in Hermanville were denied bond Thursday, according to Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods.
Quavion Barnes, Emmanuel Williams and Dabarrei McCauley were charged in Justice Court with drive-by shooting, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and aggravated assault with a weapon. All three were denied bond.
Four additional suspects — Jamarion Mallet, Cortez Hedrick, Donte King Jr. and Kemarriyun Jones — were each charged with possession of stolen firearms and manufacturing machine gun conversion devices in violation of Mississippi Code 97-37-39. Each received a $40,000 bond.
The arrests stem from two separate shootings that occurred Tuesday night. Deputies responded at approximately 9:31 p.m. to a report of gunfire on Valley of the Moon. While en route, a second call came in reporting shots fired at Michael Dean’s convenience store, also in Hermanville.
Moments later, deputies already patrolling the area observed gunfire being discharged from a black Ford Focus. A pursuit followed, and the vehicle was safely stopped. Three Black male suspects were taken into custody.
As reported earlier by the Vicksburg Daily News, several firearms were recovered from both vehicles, including weapons equipped with illegal modifications known as “switches,” converting them into fully automatic firearms. Some of the weapons were also confirmed to have been stolen.
