River Belles finish as finalists at MS Rush Crossroads of the South Tournament
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)— The Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s River Belles 2017 U9 Rec Plus girls’ team made a strong showing over the weekend, finishing as finalists in the MS Rush Crossroads of the South Tournament in Jackson. The River Belles competed in the U9 Girls Bronze Division, earning several impressive victories along the way.
On Saturday, the River Belles opened the tournament with a 4–2 win over RSC 2017 Girls Brandon Gold, followed by a 7–3 victory against the Lady Dolphins 2017 team. The strong offensive performance continued into Sunday morning, when they shut out MS Rush 17/18G Super Elite 4–0 to advance to the championship match.
In the final, the River Belles faced Brilla Juniors 2016/17 Girls White, a more experienced opponent, and closed out the tournament as proud finalists.
The team includes players Henley Hardy, Adeline Henry, Harmony Brown, Natalie Bennett, Tinley Prince, Marley Williams, Bayley Stache, Anna Kate Tarver, and Collins Cook. Not pictured is Kaydon Lynn. The River Belles are coached by Rebecca Sigh and Kenneth Prince.
The young athletes represented the Vicksburg Soccer Organization with determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, bringing home a finalist finish and making their community proud.
