VHS and St. Aloysius boys’ basketball teams earned Tuesday night wins

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Vicksburg High School and St. Aloysius earned boys’ basketball victories Tuesday night, while several girls’ and junior high teams were also in action.

Vicksburg High defeated Provine 78-60 after taking a 35-28 lead into halftime. Three Gators finished in double figures, led by Jayden Stewart with 18 points. Jaquez Jones followed with 17 points, and Marlyn Foy added 11. Jadarius Henderson contributed eight points, while Jordan Clay finished with six points, including two 3-pointers. Jayden Neal and Fabian Moore scored three points apiece, and Daquan Warfield, Khalib Bailey and La’Brone Chiplin each added two points.

The Missy Gators fell to Provine 76-40. Aaliyah Mims led VHS with 10 points, while Ny’Keria Watson scored eight. Madisyn Kimble added six points, and Alaina Williams finished with five. Zion Knox scored three points, Nakia Jeffers had two, and Jordan Grace, Saudia Stewart and Raylyn Parson each chipped in one point.

St. Aloysius boys’ basketball earned a 58-44 win over Central Hinds. The Flashes trailed 10-7 after the first quarter but rallied to take a 27-26 halftime lead. St. Aloysius held a 40-37 advantage at the end of the third quarter before pulling away late. Garrod Bunch led all scorers with 21 points, while Carson Gleese added 19. Alan Stauts finished with six points, and Walt Andrews and Carter Henderson each scored four. Carson Henderson and Sadler Lambiotte rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.

The St. Aloysius girls’ basketball team dropped a narrow 35-33 decision. Taryn Lusby led the Lady Flashes with nine points, followed by Annslee Averett with eight and Megan Theriot with seven. Olivia Larsen and Kennadi Blassingame each scored three points, Mallory Hobson and Farrell Roberson added two apiece, and Kelci Bingham finished with one point.

St. Aloysius junior high girls’ basketball picked up a 31-15 win. Kelci Bingham led the way with 14 points, while Kennadi Blassingame added 10. Analeigh Herring scored four points, and Joy Dement finished with three.

In other action, Porter’s Chapel Junior High edged Discovery Christian 18-17. Marley Busby led Porter’s Chapel with six points, followed by Raedon Busby with five. Lauren Rae Davis and Brooklyn DeRossette each scored two points, as did Bre Cobb.
