Vicksburg man indicted on murder, weapon charges in 2024 shooting

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg man has been indicted on two felony charges, including murder, in connection with a 2024 shooting death. Bernard Brown was formally indicted by a Warren County grand jury on charges of murder and possession of a weapon after felony conviction.

According to authorities, on May 28, 2024, at about 11:14 p.m., Vicksburg police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Locust Street for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found  Shandrick Montgomery lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown’s initial bond was set at $1,025,000 by Judge Penny Lawson. The Warren County District Attorney’s Office is overseeing the prosecution of the case.
