VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg natives Laurence Sullivan Jr. and Barry Dillon both turned in strong defensive performances to help their collegiate football teams earn wins over the weekend.

Sullivan, a redshirt senior at Nicholls State University, recorded six tackles and forced a fumble in the Colonels’ 34-10 victory over West Georgia. Last season, Sullivan posted 32 tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions. He is a graduate of Vicksburg High School.

Dillon, a redshirt sophomore at Incarnate Word, also made his presence felt on defense in a 31-21 win over Eastern Washington. He finished with three tackles, two pass deflections and an interception. Dillon appeared in nine games last season and is an Arlington High School graduate.

Dillon will be back in action this weekend as UIW faces UTSA. Sullivan and NSU will have an off week and will play again on September 20.
