Hinds dominated No.7 Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in 5-0 shutout

RAYMOND, Miss. (Hinds CC Athletics) – The Hinds Community College men’s soccer team delivered a dominant 5-0 shutout win over #7 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Friday evening at Tom Shepherd Field. With the win, Hinds improves to 4-0 to start the 2025 campaign.

The Eagles set the tone early with a first-half goal, then exploded for four more in the second half to seal the victory. Elliot Duffy anchored the defense in goal, recording two saves on two shots on goal to earn the clean sheet and his first win of the season.

Gian Filizzola led the attack with two goals on three shots, while Diego Ortiz and August Lydikseneach added one goal. Cody Barnett and Danny Vargas each contributed an assist, with Ortiz also tallying an assist for a three-point night. Hinds finished with eight shots on goal and five different players involved in scoring.

Hinds will return to action on Wednesday, September 10 against Pearl River CC in non-conference action. Kickoff at Tom Shepherd Field is set for 6 PM.
