Vicksburg woman arrested for rape and kidnapping

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg Woman was arrested for kidnapping and rape of her girlfriend after holding her against her will.

In a press release, Vicksburg Police Captain Curtis Judge said,On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 2117 hours, Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Urban Court, Vicksburg, Mississippi, in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival at the residence, officers were knocking on the door when they observed Shakhai Galvin pushing her girlfriend, (name redacted), to the rear of the residence. Officers spoke with Galvin and the victim, where they learned Galvin had held the victim against her will and had been assaulting her. Galvin was arrested at the scene. The victim was transported to Merit Health River Region Hospital, where she was treated and later released.

On Monday, September 22, 2025, Galvin appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter for her initial appearance on the charges of Kidnapping, and Rape. Galvin’s bond was set at one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.”

Captain Judge also released:

On Monday, September 8, 2025, at approximately 1900 hours, Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the 900 block of Locust Street, Vicksburg Mississippi in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers were advised of a verbal altercation amongst a group young males and females. Alvin Truitt and Chauncey Walker fired shots at individuals as they left the area. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Alvin Truitt turned himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Truitt appeared before Judge Penny Lawson for his initial appearance on the charge of Drive by Shooting. Truitt’s bond was set at one hundred thousand dollars.
