Missy Gators pick up wins over Provine and Natchez

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg High School volleyball team continued its strong season with two victories this week, defeating Provine and Natchez to improve to 14-3 under head coach Linda Johnson. The Missy Gators will travel to face Jefferson County High School next.

Against Provine, the varsity squad won in straight sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-17). Individual standouts included Jada Erwin with 5 points; Jordan Grace with 14 points and three kills; Kenley Henderson; Jemeria Wright with 2 points; Amari Johnson with 8 points and two digs; Jamiya Stewart with 10 points; Saudia Stewart with 8 points, one ace and one dig; Teagan Stewart with 11 points and four digs; Dallas West with 10 points and five digs; Divine Tulloch with 3 points; and Alaina Williams with 2 points.

The junior varsity also defeated Provine, winning two of three sets (25-12, 25-17). Peyton White had 7 points and three digs; Rania Kilpatrick added 3 points and three digs; Harmony Harris had 10 points, nine digs and one kill; Zipporah Drake tallied 5 points and five digs; Imani Kelly recorded 7 points and 18 digs; Alaina Williams added 12 points, two kills and six digs; and Zaria Jones finished with 6 points, two kills and 10 digs.

Vicksburg followed up with another varsity win, this time sweeping Natchez in three sets (25-8, 25-14, 25-16). Erwin recorded 8 points, one kill and 14 digs; Grace added 8 points, two kills and 11 digs; Henderson had 2 points and one kill; Wright tallied 4 points and eight digs; Johnson posted 6 points and 11 digs; Stewart had 13 points and 12 digs; Saudia Stewart contributed 11 points, two kills and 11 digs; and West rounded out the match with 13 points, two kills and 11 digs.
